The Wabash Valley Health Center serves the underserved within Vigo County and surrounding communities.
Patients who are unable to pay or have no other resources will not be turned away. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Wabash Valley Health Center will charge for services on a sliding fee scale for the uninsured. Patients will not be turned away due to their inability to pay.
The center also serves as a teaching facility for students entering health care fields including but not limited to: medical, nursing, athletic training, counseling, and dental.

Terre Haute is also home to multiple higher education establishments, including Indiana State University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and Ivy Tech Community College.
The Terre Haute Parks Department owns over 1,000 acres of dedicated land, including community parks, neighborhood parks, block parks, two golf courses, as well as trails, greensways, and boulevards. The Deming Park, Dobbs Park, and the National Road Heritage Trail are all operated by the department.
