Highland Medical Center is located at 120 Jackson River Road in Monterey, Virginia. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Highland Medical Center provides comprehensive primary care and preventive care including medical, dental, behavioral health, physical therapy, wellness, and pharmacy service to persons of all ages regardless of their ability to pay or health insurance status.
The Medical Center opened in 1996 to provide healthcare to people living in Highland County, a medically underserved region. It now serves residents from Bath and Augusta Counties in Virginia and Pocahontas and Pendleton Counties in West Virginia.
We are an integrated patient-centered medical home system of care in which a team of health professionals works together with the patient, (and where appropriate, the family) to provide the best possible health outcomes. With a medical home, the patient is joining a team that consists of a medical provider and other healthcare professionals including behavioral health specialists, dentists, dental hygienists, nurses, pharmacists, caseworkers, physical therapists, trusted friends, or family members (if you wish), and – most importantly – you the patient. Working with a team may improve the quality of your health care and shorten the time it takes to get care.
We want patients to be a part of the health care team by taking an active approach to their health care and staying healthy.
