Phoenix is the capital, and largest city, of the U.S. state of Arizona. Located in the northeastern reaches of the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix has a subtropical desert climate.
Recently Downtown Phoenix and the central core have experienced renewed interest and growth, resulting in numerous restaurant, stores and businesses openings or relocating to central Phoenix.
The city and the surrounding area have several cultural activities, including the performing arts, museums, and events. Performing Arts venues such as the Phoenix Symphony Hall, Orpheum Theatre, US Airways Center, and Comerica Theatre play host to the opera, symphony, and concerts.
Phoenix is home to a large number of parks and recreation areas. Many like the South Mountain Park and Desert Botanical Garden are preserving the desert landscape. The Phoenix Zoo, in addition to several golf courses and the Hole-in-the-Rock geological formation are other recreational spots frequented by locals and tourists.
