Novato is blessed with scenic beauty, eclectic shopping and dining options, and an ideal location. Right at the northern tip of Marin County, the city is surrounded by unspoiled open space, teeming wetlands, and rolling coastal hills. It’s within easy driving distance of the Sonoma-Napa Wine Country to the east and the Point Reyes National Seashore to the west. Head north and you’ll find the Russian River area, and of course, the city of San Francisco is to the south.

With so much to offer, it’s not surprising that Novato was voted as one of the top thirty cities in the US for healthy lifestyles. You can roam over 2,600 acres of open space with beautiful hiking and scenic cycling trails. You can also hit the links on several premier 18-hole golf courses. And top off your day by visiting Grant Avenue’s quaint boutiques and eateries in historic Old Town, or sip award-winning regional wines at Mantra Wines and Trek Winery.

Novato has a rural atmosphere largely because of its low population density and the high amount of open space and parks in and near the City.

Many homes enjoy generous lots with flat lawns, tons of sun, and a high-quality school system. Some recent changes are making Novato an even more appealing choice. The Grant Avenue downtown business district has been charmingly redeveloped and includes Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and the Tuesday night farmer’s market. Along with the annual Art, Wine and Music Festival, Novato has become an extension of nearby Sonoma’s culinary focus.

Vintage Oaks Shopping Center offers just about every convenience, including both Costco and Target, as well as dining and live music at Hopmonk Tavern, and a whole host of other retail options. The beer garden at nearby Moylan’s Brewery is a great place to watch a game and is a favorite among locals.
