Facility Details

Due to the demand for medical services in the urban Indian community, Hunter Health Clinic opened their first location in Wichita, Kansas in 1976, originally known as The Wichita Urban Indian Health Center. In 1985, the center was renamed to Hunter Health Clinic and expanded their locations to serve all people.

Hunter Health Clinic is the only Urban Indian Health Program in Kansas and the only federally funded community health center in Wichita. In 2008, Hunter Health Clinic delivered 72,231 services to 25,391 individuals.

Wichita, the largest city in Kansas with a population of 389,965, is the county seat of Sedgwick County. Major highways, including the Kansas Turnpike, US 400 and Interstate I-135, link the city with a large trade area that encompasses a population of more than one million people within a 100-mile radius.
