Hermann Medical Arts and Southwest Medical Associates are long-standing medical practices in the Hermann community. A full range of primary care services are offered at both locations, while behavioral health is offered at SMA. Our healthcare team is comprised of Physicians, NP/PA’s, and LCSW’s.
Associated Medical Arts opened in 1994 by Hermann Hospital to provide much-needed access to quality medical care to Montgomery City and the surrounding area. Our team consists of physician-directed medical care primarily provided by two excellent full-time nurse practitioners with a combined 13 years of practice in this office, as well as a Licensed Clinic Social Worker to provide individual and/or family behavioral health services.

Settled in 1837, Hermann was chosen for its luscious and green scenery as well as rolling hills and vintage charm. It is commonly believed that the Hermann area’s resemblance to the Rhine Valley prompted scouts from the German Settlement Society of Philadelphia to choose the site for a colony on the American frontier. Hermann has been voted “Missouri’s Most Beautiful Town” by Rural Missouri Magazine and named “Best Small-Town Destination” and “Best Day Trip from St. Louis” in AAA’s Best of the Midwest poll.
Today Hermann’s Old-World charm attracts visitors in search of the quiet pleasures of an earlier era. Much of downtown is a historic district where brick homes from the 1800s hug the sidewalk in the traditional German style. More than 150 buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.
Idle for nearly 50 years after Prohibition, Hermann’s wineries are once again the main tourist attraction. The seven wineries in and around Hermann account for more than a third of the state’s total production.
