Appomattox Area Health & Wellness Center, which opened in September 2007, is the second location in Petersburg, VA. This facility offers medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services. Created in part from a generous donation from the Cameron Foundation, this location has an on-site pharmacy to serve our patients and provides dental services as well as medical services. Our staff at this location includes Dr. Robbie Lewis-Blackwell, a pediatrician, and Dr. Juan Rivas, a family practice physician who speaks Spanish fluently. Dr. Sheilandice Holmes joined our staff in May of 2008 to provide dental services to patients in our service area.
The Petersburg Area has a firm place in our nation’s history books. From the founding of the Citie of Henricus in 1611 in Chesterfield County to Revolutionary and Civil War battles fought in Petersburg, the area was destined to become a place of importance in Virginia and American history. Situated along the James River and at the confluence of the James and Appomattox rivers, the Petersburg Area played a significant role in our nation’s early days and continues to be a region of great historic, commercial and economic importance.
