St. Louis’ artistic flair is on display at museums and galleries of all sizes and subject matter. The magnificent Saint Louis Art Museum, originally built as a “palace” for the 1904 “Meet Me in St. Louis” World’s Fair, showcases masterpieces from the Renaissance, Impressionism, Asia, and a world-renowned collection Pre-Columbian art. Its collection of modern art has become one of the largest and most distinguished components of its holdings. Contemporary art is duly honored in the Gateway City. Contemplate the works on view at two of St. Louis’ internationally recognized art institutions: The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation. These non-collecting entities are neighbors in St. Louis’ Grand Center arts and entertainment district. The Contemporary features changing exhibits of art being created today. The Pulitzer, designed by award-winning architect Tadao Ando, offers visitors an environment in which they can appreciate the relationship between contemporary art and architecture.

With more than 40 professional theater companies, in addition to world-class dance, comedy and improv troupes, St. Louis offers the theatre-lover so much to explore! A good place to start is Grand Center, which serves as the cultural hub of St. Louis, and is located just minutes west of downtown. You can settle back in a plush seat at beautiful Powell Symphony Hall, designed to resemble part of the French palace of Versailles, and listen to the 135-year-old St. Louis Symphony Orchestra make beautiful music. Take in a touring Broadway show at the Fox Theatre, where special concerts and dance performances also fill the massive stage throughout the year.

In any given week in St. Louis, there are up to 300 chances to treat your ears to some phenomenal musicianship. Whether it’s Stevie Ray Vaughnesque shredding in the Soulard neighborhood, cool vocal stylings at a hip suburban bistro, or the joyful jamming of a Grateful Dead tribute band in the Loop, the live music scene is rocking visitors, conventioneers, and locals every single night.

The 11-time World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals are perennial contenders as the most dedicated baseball fans in the country descend on Busch Stadium clad in red. The stadium offers the very best of baseball tradition with a great view from every seat, authentic ballpark dining and a wide variety of off-field activities for pre-and post-game entertainment. The young and talented St. Louis Blues take to the ice at the Scottrade Center to do battle in the NHL’s Western Conference. Head to the Scottrade Center to watch your favorite players take the ice.

Six Flags St. Louis offers non-stop, over-the-top, high-speed thrills around every turn. Heart-pounding roller coasters, family rides, and attractions are just the ticket to fun for kids of all ages. Visit Hurricane Harbor, a 12-acre water park, free with theme park admission.

Recently voted Best Zoo and America’s Top Free Attraction, the Saint Louis Zoo is dedicated to connecting people to animals. Annually, approximately 3 million visitors get the opportunity to experience 17,000+ animals in the Zoo’s care; many of them are rare and endangered. When you visit the Saint Louis Zoo, you’ll have no shortage of things to see and do. The Zoo has 90 acres of animal exhibits, attractions, shopping and dining for you and your family to enjoy. You can also find Zoo activities and programs for people of all ages and abilities.
